Trans Jam BMX Contest first ever dirt stop was at the Lake Crabtree Park dirt jumps this past saturday may 18th. Riders from as far as Australia came to throw down and the riders were stoked on it, after the trail crew got the jumps running after a mid day storm the riders started getting their runs dialed. The Terrapin Twilight Criterium in Athens, GA is one of the highlights on the Maxxis racing calendar. This is the crit that started night racing in the US and it consistently draws 30,000+ spectators to the streets of downtown Athens. The Terrapin Twilight Criterium is part of the Maxxis-sponsored USA Crits Championship Series and it kicks off Speed Week, which features seven crits over nine days in cities across the Southeast.
Athens was also home to the second stop of the Trans Jam BMX Contest Serieswhich featured both Park and Flatland competitions for all skill levels from Beginner to Pro. Riders were seen on a variety of Maxxis BMX tires from the race-oriented Torch to the freestyle-specific Grifter .

During the Trans Jam Contest hosted in Greenville, NC, hometown rider Austin Hardee went for his very first attempt at the double backflip on a real box. Looping out on the first attempt, he came back and went for it again. The crowd was pumped and he received a standing ovation after pulling it clean.
This is just a small sample of the talent that was at the Greenville North Carolina BMX Fest 2011. Footage was collected during the contest and practice sessions.
